Not all coughs are the same. Sometimes you can have a wet cough caused by mucus. Other times, you have an irritating dry cough. Some days it’s both. Whichever you’re dealing with, relief has arrived with Mucinex DM.
Cough
When you’re healthy, the cilia in your airways move mucus toward your throat to either be coughed up or swallowed. But with a respiratory tract infection (like the common cold), mucus can build up in your airways and lungs, so your body has to cough to get rid of it.
Chest Congestion
Chest congestion is what happens when the mucus membranes (mucosa) that line your airways jump into overdrive. When you breathe in an irritant (like dust, bacteria or a virus), mucosa cells are attacked causing inflammation and extra mucus in your airways. This extra mucus is one of the ways your body tries to remove an irritant.
Do not crush, chew, or break tablet; take with full glass of water; this product can be administered without regard for timing of meals.
Adults and Children 12 Years and Older: 1 tablet every 12 hours; not more than 2 tablets in 24 hours. Children Under 12 Years of Age: Do not use.
